Desi Aamrit is a tribute to the strongest woman I know — my mother.
For over 40 years, she has poured her courage, resilience, and love into creating pure, homemade desi products.
Raised in a humble home and burdened with responsibilities after losing her father early, she learned to face life with dignity and unwavering strength. Among the many lessons passed down from her mother, one gift became her identity — the art of making traditional desi products.
Every summer, she handpicked raw mangoes, sun-dried spices on clean cotton cloths, and prepared pickles whose aroma filled our home with warmth and nostalgia. Family and neighbours waited eagerly each year, always saying:
"Ye swaad kahi nahi milta"
A Mother Became a Movement : From Kitchen to Community
What began with pickles soon expanded to desi ghee, shudh shehad, masalas, papad and other pure homemade products.
As orders grew, she chose not just to grow the work — but to grow the people around her. She brought together local women who needed support, taught them the craft, and turned her home into a place of shared strength. For many, this became a source of confidence, dignity, and financial independence. What started as her passion quietly became a movement of women empowerment within the community.
